Description of the work placement

At the University of Opole, teaching placements form an integral part of teacher training, designed to prepare students for the realities of working in schools. The university collaborates with a number of schools that act as partners in the placement programme. These include both primary and secondary schools, enabling students to gain a wide range of educational experiences.

Students are free to choose their own placement, and should base their decision on their interests and preferences regarding the subjects they wish to teach. Choosing the right institution is important, as it provides an opportunity to learn in an environment that aligns with their future career aspirations.

Requirements regarding work placement documentation

All students are required to keep a record of their work placements, which may include (see: Course Descriptions in the timetable for the relevant degree programme) and in accordance with the University of Opole’s Work Placement Regulations, for example:

  • Reports containing detailed descriptions of the activities carried out, teaching methods and observations regarding work with pupils.
  • Practical training diaries or logs kept on an ongoing basis, in which students record their experiences and reflections on their daily activities.
  • Grades awarded by supervising teachers at institutions, which assess, amongst other things, students’ teaching skills and their commitment to their work.
  • Records of the achievement of intended learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences.

Submission of the full set of documents is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the work placement and is intended to assess the extent to which the intended learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences have been achieved.
