Recognition proceedings by province education superintendents (legalization)

Every candidate who applies to be admitted to a study programme is accepted on the basis of a certificate confirming the completion of secondary education. Such certificates must first be recognized as valid by an education superintendent through the process of legalization.

For those who wish to study at the University of Opole the legalization procedure is done by the Education Superintendent of Opolskie Province under the following address:

Documents to be submitted alongside the application:
  1. legalised/ apostilled original (duplicate) of a certificate/document obtained abroad – for inspection;

Legalization procedure of the certificate may be done:

    • By the consul of the Republic of Poland having jurisdiction with respect to the state in the territory of which, or in the education system of which the given certificate was issued.
    • By Education authorities of the issuing country
    • accreddited in the Republic of Poland or one of the countries of the European Union, the European Free Trade Association – European Economic Area and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in a diplomatic institution or a consulate of the country in which the certificate has been issued.

  1. The original certificate (for inspection) or its notarized copy with an Apostille certificate in case of documents issued by a member state of the Hague Convention of 5th October 1961. The list of the Convention’s parties can be found here http://www.hcch.net.

  2. Documents to be attached to the application in case the certificate does not provide details about the curriculum:

a) a list of marks obtained in the examination for graduation or completion of a given stage of education / a list of subject and classes completed within the given stage of education, together with the marks obtained;
b) a list of subjects and classes completed within the given stage of education, together with the marks obtained;
c) information about the completed study curriculum; teaching content, planned study time, marking scale;
d) information about the applicant’s right to continue education at the appropriate level in the country in whose system the certificate was issued, including the right to apply for admission to higher education in the country of issue (an eligibility letter).

All documents listed under points a)-d) should be issued or confirmed by the school, educational institution or educational authorities of the country within the system of which the certificate has been issued.

Translating documents to Polish:

All documents attached to the application must be provided with their translations to Polish done or certified by a Sworn Translator.
